vow my love
"If I was ever going to be a one hit wonder, this would be the track that did it. Of all the songs that I've written this is by far the most popular and widely accepted track by listeners. Turns out that the track is just as special to me as well.
At the time, I was engaged and to be married in about one month. A year before that, I had proposed to my wife with a ballad that I wrote. She didn't suspect a thing and thought that it was just another track I was working on, but when I popped the question with the last line of lyrics she about jumped out of her seat. I wanted to put this song on CD for her as a wedding gift, but in addition to the proposal I had been working on a short poem of wedding vows for her that I wanted to put on the CD as well. I thought I'd take an untraditional route for the format of the vows and put them in a killer dance track.
I was still in the dance mode from tracking experience, but I knew I wanted to go a different route especially since I was so into hard trance at the time. Since being hooked on the genre, I had created several lead synth sounds on the XP-30. The one I selected for this song comes in at 01:18 for the first time and continues to play throghout the track. The progressive riff of the track was written while I experimented with the piano roll for the instrument in OrionPro. It turned out better than I thought I could ever do.
The rest of the track fell into place around the lead melody. I knew I wanted a phat monophonic intro, and that beepy synth off the XP-30 really fit the bill. It gave the beginning of the track a nice bouncy feel that contrasted well with the progrssiveness of the remainder. The baseline and kick, of course, came from OrionPro synths as did my first attempt at the climbing synth sound effect that you hear for the first time at . Gotta love that synapse-audio Scorpion.
Of course, the best part of the entire song is the vocals. The smooth, angelic voice you hear is none other than the gal the song was written for. Kinda neat to hear the vows that I wrote for her being sung back. The coolest part about it is that we recorded them in two takes! The first one she made one mistake and stopped the computer saying, "Hold on. Let me try that again." One more shot is all it took to give you the vox that you hear in the track now.
Both online and offline the song received great reviews. There are still a few production quirks with it that I would love to touch up in a future remaster, but overall the track gives the high energy dance sound that I was aiming for. Plus, it was the best way I knew how to vow my love.

Lyrics
Love, I do vow to hold true.
I will cherish you.
There is no tomorrow.
If I'm not with you.
